Nancy Stender and Judy Schavrien’s terms as co-Directors of Reilgious Education are ending this June and we are looking for two people who are interested in this position. The job is largely administrative and you will have full support from the RE committee. The schedule is flexible, and it is an excellent leadership opportunity. We have a detailed job description available, but primarily the job includes helping support the teachers, updating registration and permission forms, arrange substitutes for teachers and maintain communication with the parents and the RE committee. It is a two year commitment and necessary for the continuation of the RE program. It is open to all adults, not just parents, and RE teaching experience is needed.

Saturday, May 21 Town Meeting – Renewing the Spirit of Volunteerism
A town meeting has been scheduled for Saturday, May 21, with the aim of renewing the spirt of volunteerism at our Fellowship.
We will outline the pillars of ministry (Religious Education, Pastoral, Social Action, Worship, Stewardship) and break into small discussion groups based on your individual “calling”.
We will plan and commit to volunteer activities which will take our Fellowship into and through FY 2011-2012 and beyond. It is possible to be interested in more than one pillar, but for the purposes of the meeting, we would like to have each person focus on the part of our ministries that “calls” to them.
Coffee at 8:45 a.m. Meeting begins promptly at 9 a.m. Child Care provided.
Hope to see you there.

Tuesday, May 17 : Rhoda Janzen’s memoir “Mennonite and the Little Black Dress” at 7:30 p.m.
“Wonderfully intelligent and frank. . . . Mennonite in a Little Black Dress is snort-up-your-coffee funny, breezy yet profound, and poetic without trying. . . . [Janzen’s] tone reminds me of Garrison Keillor’s deadpan, affectionate, slightly hyperbolic stories about urbanities and Minnesota Lutherans. . . I loved this book, and Rhoda Janzen. She is a terrific, pithy, beautiful writer, a reliable, sympathetic narrator and a fantastically good sport.”—Kate Christensen, New York Times Book Review

With the (temporary?) elimination of the newsletter, we have to be even more diligent about letting folks know what’s going on at the Fellowship. Of course, the primary reason the newsletter stopped being published is that no one was sending our editor information! One of the advantages to all these new methods of communication, though, is that you make up your own deadlines. If you don’t have it 6 weeks in advance, it’s fine; these are all dynamic options that can be altered whenever you’re ready.
Here are the options for communication at our Fellowship:
Facebook. Click Here. I’ll be posting Easter pictures here today! This is a perfect place to find out what’s happening, but also to start discussions about relevant subjects.
Blog. It seems you’ve found us! If you want to announce something, send it to Peggy (pclarke@uuma.org) to post.
Email. From time to time, a mass email will be sent to anyone on the list. There are only three people allowed to send messages this way, so send your information to Mark Civitas (the President), Sarah Edell (Chair of Communications) or Peggy Clarke (Minister.)
Web Page. Some information is best put on the web site. If that’s the case, send it to Sarah Edell or Bob Solomon to post.
Sunday Program. Putting something in the program is always a good idea. Send it to Mark who consolidates and sends to Melissa Cole.
Sunday Announcement. Very important announcements can be made from the pulpit by a member of the Board. Mark is also the gatekeeper for that.
It seems we have a lot of water coolers to gather around. Join the conversation!

For those of you not in the room at the time, you need to hear about Sunday’s vote…
Our congregation voted overwhelmingly to find a Settled Minister!!
This means the Board will act quickly to get an Interim Minister for next year and the Nominating Committee will begin working on candidates for the Search Committee.
If you have any questions, post them here!
